Guides, written for the work.

Short, practical guides for contractors getting set up, homeowners hiring well, and developers connecting their own tools.

For contractors

Getting the business running.

Your first week on ConstructionOSPro

  1. Create your company and set your timezone, services and tax rate.
  2. Load your price book — or start from the starter catalogue and edit it.
  3. Add your next customer and their property, then price the job as an estimate.
  4. Approve the estimate and send it as a proposal; the customer signs it in their portal.
  5. Start the project from the accepted proposal and book the crew on the dispatch board.

Bringing subcontractors on safely

  1. Invite the subcontractor from Settings → Team, with the subcontractor role.
  2. They send their licence, certificate of insurance and W-9 from their own portal.
  3. Somebody at your company checks each document; uploaded is not the same as verified.
  4. Only a cleared subcontractor can be assigned to work; you are told before anything expires.
  5. A signed form does not make somebody an independent contractor — classification is a legal question for your adviser.

Getting paid on time

  1. Take a deposit on the proposal, so a signed job is a funded one.
  2. Bill progress or milestones from the schedule of values as the work is done.
  3. Customers pay by card from the invoice link; the payment counts once the provider confirms it.
  4. Receivables shows what is overdue and by how long; reminders go from your own templates.

Publishing your contractor website

  1. Write your headline and services under Settings → Website, or let the writer draft them from your records.
  2. Add finished jobs to your portfolio with their photos.
  3. Publish: your verified credentials and reviews appear automatically and update themselves.
  4. Connect your own domain once you have proved you own it.

For homeowners

Hiring with confidence.

Hiring a contractor

  1. Ask for their licence number and certificate of insurance, and check they are current.
  2. Get the price in writing, with what is excluded and when the quote expires.
  3. Agree the deposit and the payment schedule before work starts.
  4. Any change to the work should be a written change order you approve, with its price.

What “verified” means here

  1. Somebody checked the licence or insurance behind the badge, and it has not expired.
  2. When a credential lapses, the badge goes — on every plan.
  3. Verification is never sold. Paid placement is always labelled as paid.
